This was the 2nd year for the Pinstriping event at theLive and Jive rockabilly weekender. This years line up of All Star Swedish pinstripers included

Buller

Freddyboy

and of course yours truly Von Sven.

All our Striper’s where on location the entire evening painting kustom Originals for live and jive guests. Some people left shoes and cell phones for the kustom treatment and others bought artwork from the art show table.

A new addition to this years show was the Pinstripe Race track and it was a real crowd pleaser watching the pant fly as thin lines of 1 shot where dragged along the 6.25 meters of track. The rules for the race where loose to say the least, and the results where lost, so there is soon to be a rematch in the near future..

So all in all a good time in the “fume room” this year ! Thanks again to Korena and Henrik ,organizers of the Live and Jive festival for making this possible. We had a great time, till next year !!

Getting ready now for the yearly Wheels boat cruise .. This year I will be set up on the lower deck finishing up a heavy lettering  job on  a ’56 Chevy Gasser. Also the 2012 Wheels Nationals T-Shirts that I designed will be on sale for the first time!

At this years Depalma Mayhem Highlights included 2  Lowriders painted in true LA fashion by tattoo/pinstriper  Daniel Nordin.

As well as the Appearance of Piki Rods / Red Stars latest project.. a built from scratch copy of a 1939 daimler dingo panzer car! crazy !!

This year Piki Rods will be back at the Depalma meet to reveal a new build, you may remember the Piki Rods Rat Rod which made its Debut at Depalmas meet a few years ago. Well, now it’s time for a comeback…

The First project was a ’28 Dodge pick up built on a Chevrolet caprice, it was painted with nose art and to hold up the WWII aviation theme was later fitted with wing bracket styled running boards. The lack of wind shield also added to the effect! See the original Piki Rod in action here EXCLUCIVE VIDEO!!

This years project  is also a budget build although this time building onto a Suzuki Vitara 89. See whats been done with it  at this years Depalma Mayham meet this Saturday 10am – 3pm. Or if you can’t make it to Stockholm for the event, there will of course be a full blog post with pictures coming soon..

I will be painting Nose Art for Piki Rods on the spot, but will be taking breaks from that for drop ins. So if you need some work done it’s no problem.

This Year Live and Jive organizers Hollywood Hank and Missy Lu asked the VSKD artstore to help organize a crazy pinstripes room for this years show.

A selection of Swedens top pinstripe artists where invited . The Seven painters who took part where Buller, Charlie Nilsson Evil T, Freddy Boy, Krazy F, Von Sven, and Yoda.

With all the good energy and great response from the public, we are pleased to announce that there will be a Kustom Pinstripe  Paint Off again at next years Live and Jive 2012 ! We are already looking forward to it.

Tomorrow I got a job tattooing in a Lesbian Prison !

The tattoo flash that I will be working with is Russian prison tattoo designs and they will be hand painted with non toxic colors that stick well but do wash off with no problem, won’t hurt a bit !

The rebuild of my Whizzer has begun. It is a Model J from 1948 and was found by an old friend of mine in a dumpster in Minneapolis a bunch of years ago, it got left at the pink house and eventually I ended up getting it. I stripped the motor off  and and set that aside because it obviously needed some parts and a lot of  work.

To get the bike ridable as a bicycle again not much was necessary. Besides a full overhaul the only parts that where needed  was a front tire, seat, new break line for the front drum and a new set of tubes. Other than that the bike is original as found, although not a official WZ model Schwinn it’s a stock 52 Schwinn modified  to be used with the engine. The frame was also custom painted with some really cool red and black scallops.

Since I am in  Stockholm I brought it over here piece by piece each time I took a trip back to Minneapolis. It took three trips and luckily I got it all over before they started charging extra for baggage.

And now at last I started to tear apart the little model J Engine in the garage, and wel..l I gotta say am not the subject of much jealousy  down there – but hey you gotta start somewhere !

From the beginning  a few missing items where obvious, those being the gas tank and carburetor , but after some “by the book” disassembly I found the Coil was missing. Other then that there was a lot of carbon build up in the engine so there is some cleaning to do here.

If there is anyone out there with a coil or the carb that I need?? I am in the market for the one of the following …

With the more then suitable backdrop of the late 1800′s built foundry “Hyttan”. And with rays from the morning sun streaming in  through cathedral like windows, the Mooneyes Sweden Bike Show was a more than impressive display of 2 wheeled  custom masterworks.

It’s almost that time again ! I will be joining the ‘rocking Wheels boat veterans as we fail to sail to Finland one more time.I am assuming they will provide some kind of car for me to paint on lower deck, so stop by to check out some live painting or to getting something ‘striped. I can paint on just about anything, I’ll even have my water base colors if anyone should need a temporary pinstripe tattoo?

.. and not to mention if we are lucky there will be some spiffy new Nats T – Shirts available, with the design as seen above!

The great July Weather combined good company of Retro Målari and some other friends made for a great road trip.

There was plenty to do with a nice spread of cars, live pinstriping, and nights packed with live rockabilly music. There was even some live tattooing inside and Pop up art show with artist Charlie Nilsson showing his fantastic paintings that fit right in with his use of custom car and bike images mixed with pinstripes. Outside there was live Pinstripes available from both customart and Von Sven.

Goood times…. don’t miss Hultsfreed next year !

As I have been slacking on getting posts up in a timely manner this summer we will continue  trip  down Memory lane  with some photos from the annual Jokers meet !

Aside from the rainy weather this was a real happening year for the Jokers show as we saw a lot of familiar faces from the prior weekend in Bottrop. Although  being on the circuit  meant many miles of wet pavement and trash bag armor for those riding their motorbikes, spirits where high and there was plenty of room indoors to keep dry and hangout. Later in the evening the rain let up and there was time to check out the rides, most notably the line up of  fine custom motorcycles which seems to grow and magnify every year… check it out!

Here are some (long over due) pics from the Bottrop Kustom kulture show, with it’s world renowned Kustom Kulture Art tent with booths from an international array of kustom artists  showing off  their work.

Aside from the art tent there was a multitude of traditional  hot rods, customs and bikes on display. The level of  quality of vehicles was very high for an outdoor show and there was also some classic drag races on the landing strip (the event takes place on an airfield)

Bottrop is  one of the cities located in the industrial Ruhr district  in the central western reign of Germany. And after a jam packed weekend  we where able to experience a typical German industrial neighborhood firsthand in the next town over, Bochum. We also experienced some true German hospitality with a Currywurst  BBQ !

All in all a great time and we highly recommend a visit to Bottrop next year if your not already planning on it !!
